Alabama is home to many beautiful waterfalls, including Indian Falls. Indian Falls is located at DeSoto State Park and is definitely a total hidden gem in Alabama. For information about this waterfall and DeSoto State Park, take a look below.
DeSoto State Park is located atop of beautiful Lookout Mountain in Fort Payne, Alabama. Covering approximately 3,500 acres, it's one of the state's most popular state parks.
There are several features located throughout DeSoto State Park that make it such a wonderful place to visit, one being DeSoto Falls. Plunging 104 feet into the water below, DeSoto Falls is one of Alabama's most beautiful waterfalls.
With that being said, DeSoto Falls isn't the only beautiful waterfall at DeSoto State Park. There are quite a few others, including Indian Falls.
Indian Falls, which has a 20-ft drop, is located across the street from the park's Talmadge Butler Boardwalk Trail. It can be accessed by a small footpath and viewed from a wooden footbridge that spans across the top of the falls.
In addition to viewing Indian Falls from atop of the wooden footbridge, you can also hike down and view it from below. Better yet, you can also go behind the falls and view it from inside the cove. Keep in mind, you'll always want to use caution when hiking to the bottom of Indian Falls because the rocks are sometimes slippery.
The next time you visit DeSoto State Park, consider checking out Indian Falls. It's a total hidden gem that's certainly worth seeing up close and in person.
