1. Barbour County
Barbour County is located in the southeastern region of Alabama. Its largest city is Eufaula, which is best known for its beautiful antebellum mansions and Lake Eufaula, a popular spot for bass fishing.
2. Chilton County
Located within the central region of Alabama is Chilton County. Chilton County is best known for its peaches and unique landscape, which consists of mountains, prairies and swamps. Peach Park, located in Clanton, is one of Chilton County's most popular tourist spots.
3. Jefferson County
Jefferson County is Alabama's most populated county. Here you'll find cities such as Birmingham, Hoover, Irondale, Homewood and Mountain Brook, one of Alabama's most affluent places.
4. Butler County
In Butler County, you'll find Greenville, the county seat. Greenville is best known as "The Camellia City," and it's also been called "The Best Small Town in America."
5. DeKalb County
Located in the northeastern region of Alabama is DeKalb County, which is home to Lookout Mountain, Fort Payne and Mentone. In DeKalb County, you'll also find beautiful waterfalls, a scenic canyon and Buck's Pocket State Park.
6. Monroe County
The county seat of Monroe County is Monroeville, which is the hometown of author Harper Lee. Monroe County and Monroeville were both designated "The Literary Capital of Alabama" in 1997 by the Alabama Legislature. Monroeville's old courthouse inspired the setting of Lee's famous novel "To Kill a Mockingbird," and it attracts many visitors each year.
7. Baldwin County
Baldwin County is located on Alabama's beautiful Gulf Coast. Here you'll find several coastal towns, including Bay Minette, Fairhope, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Magnolia Springs, Spanish Fort, etc. Alabama's beautiful white-sand beaches are among the finest beaches in the world.
8. Lee County
Lee County is home to Opelika, which is also the county seat. Also in Lee County, you'll find the city of Auburn, Lee County's largest city and the home of Auburn University.

9. Chambers County
Chambers County is located in the Valley, Alabama area, and its county seat is Lafayette. Interesting fact: Chambers County has been used in several movies, including the 1989 hit film "Mississippi Burning."
10. Madison County
Madison County is located in North Alabama and is recognized as the "birthplace" of Alabama because the state was founded here on December 14, 1819. Huntsville, which is Madison County's county seat, is home to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center and Big Spring Park, two of Alabama's most popular attractions.
11. Mobile County
Mobile County is located on the western side of Mobile Bay. From historical landmarks to outdoor activities, there are many great things to see and do in this charming county. The county seat of Mobile County is Mobile, which is home to the original Mardi Gras.
