Delaware has its fair share of natural spaces to enjoy, and we bet you can name quite a few – but Valley Garden Park may not be on your radar, given that it’s one of Delaware’s lesser-known natural gems. Tucked away in the “chateau country” of the Brandywine Valley, this hidden park in Delaware has miniature waterfalls along a peaceful stream, gorgeous landscaping, blossoming trees in the springtime, and so much more. Walk along the paved path of Valley Garden Park in the spring and summer, and you’ll be surrounded by lush greenery and colorful flowers. We can’t think of many better spots in the First State if you’re looking to get away from it all for a reflective walk or a relaxing picnic.
Valley Garden Park, located just outside of Wilmington in Greenville, Delaware, was formerly owned by the du Pont family. It was once a farm, but today is a beautifully landscaped park and garden.
A little stream with miniature waterfalls runs through the park, inviting you to walk alongside and listen to the peaceful sounds of the water, punctuated by birdsong.
Follow the 1.3-mile loop trail around the park and you're sure to have a lovely stroll. There are multiple paths that branch off through the woods, if you're feeling a little adventurous.
Valley Garden Park is lovely year-round, too, with lots of color in the fall, and an even more quiet and peaceful ambiance in the winter. The paved path through the park makes for an easy, accessible walk no matter the season.
