Delaware's charming Brandywine Valley features beautiful landscapes, homes and scenery that's often overlooked when visitors decide to flock to our beaches. If you're looking for an upstate adventure this summer, spend a day seeing the sights in Greenville, Delaware to feel like American royalty.
Please note, Hagley and Mt Cuba Center are temporarily closed.
The Greenville landscape is dotted with beautiful DuPont mansions, gorgeous estates, and beautiful, classy homes that line the shady streets.
There are plenty of unique buildings, such as the Owl's Nest, which is now home to the local country club.
You'll find two beautiful, tourable DuPont Estates right in Greenville. Hagley is the site of the first DuPont Home and Mill in America.
The gorgeous grounds let you step back in time to the early days of the American Revolution.
Winterthur, the second DuPont Estate in Greenville, is home to one of the most amazing gardens in the entire world.
There's even a little bit of magic hiding in the woods - Winterthur's Enchanted Woods, that is.
Mt. Cuba Center is right on the outskirts of Greenville, and though it's technically in Hockessin, the rolling hills blend together as you approach this stunning garden.
You'll find only native plants here, and they're so well tended that you'll feel like you're in paradise.
After a full day of exploring Delaware's sights, head to BBC Tavern.
This charming all-American grill and pub serves up delicious burgers and enormous piles of nachos that are sure to delight your tastebuds.
What's your favorite charming Delaware community where you can relax for an entire day? I really think Greenville makes a good argument for being the most whimsical town in the state! Spend a day exploring the town to see for yourself.
