Located right near the resort town of Rehoboth Beach and the quaint, quiet town of Lewes hides a beautiful Delaware lavender farm - the first of its kind in the state. If you're looking for a relaxing day trip to take in the spring, a visit to the historic Lavender Fields at Warrington Manor will have you relaxed and feeling peaceful as you wander the fields and the famous labyrinth.
Is there anything more lovely than the smell of a blooming field of lavender?
The bright purple blossom smells so good and looks so pretty, covering a field as far as the eyes can see.
If you've been to farmers markets in Sussex County, chances are you've encountered Lavender Fields Farm.
The farm is located on Warrington Manor, a historic, five-acre farm owned by Sharon Harris and Marie Mayor. Seasonally, they sell the most fragrant and beautiful lavender plants in the state. Year round, you can purchase bath and body products (they're known as the soap fairies) and honey from their own beehives.
The grounds are gorgeous and so inviting.
The smell of lavender is enough to make you want to stay all day! Walk through the labyrinth, which is located behind the barn in a peaceful circle of trees. It is an exact replica of the labyrinth embedded in the floor of the Cathedral of Chartres near Paris, France. It is a half-mile journey to walk the entire thing, and in the spring, you'll enjoy the sight of blooming wisteria.
There's no better place to spend an afternoon in spring and summer, meditating and relaxing.
Lavender is known for its relaxing properties, and you'll understand why after a visit to this Delaware lavender farm. The best time to visit is in June and July, when the lavender is in full bloom.
You can visit the farm from April through December for a relaxing day trip near the beach.
Lavender Fields at Warrington Manor is only a few miles from Lewes and Rehoboth Beach, off Route 9. They are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day beginning April 1 and closing for the winter on New Year's Eve. You can find this Delaware Lavender Farm at 18864 Cool Spring Rd in
Milton, Delaware.
Ahhh... I'm relaxed just thinking about it. If you're looking for a northern Delaware experience to take your troubles away, you might want to give the Salt Cove, located in Wilmington, a try. There's nothing like a relaxing spa day!
