Now that summer is over and all the tourists have gone home, Delawareans can begin celebrating their favorite season - Fall! From corn mazes to pumpkin picking and everything in between, Autumn is by far the best time to visit the First State. To help kick off the season, make plans to attend the most Delaware festival ever: Bridgeville's Apple Scrapple Festival.
Every year, Delawareans welcome in Autumn with a huge Apple Scrapple festival, held the second full weekend in October.
The streets of Bridgeville, Delaware fill up with thousands of visitors looking to celebrate fall in the most Delaware way ever.
The Apple Scrapple Festival has been held every year since 1992, and includes amusement rides, carnival games, and plenty of live entertainment along with tons of delicious food.
The view from the ferris wheel is always impressive, and you'll have a blast trying all sorts of food from local food trucks, restaurants, and cafes.
Every year, the vendors list grows and grows! No matter what you're looking to snack on, they'll have it here.
Of course, the main reason people come from all over for this one-of-a-kind Delaware festival is the namesake Scrapple!
But wait... what is scrapple?
That's a question that only the bravest Delawareans will begin to answer. The shortest way to describe our favorite breakfast meat is that it's pig... and includes everything but the oink. Most of us just don't think too hard about what we're eating, because it's absolutely delicious.
You don't have to be a big scrapple fan to enjoy the festival, though! After all, it is half apple!
Apple pies, apple cider donuts, apple turnovers, candy apples and caramel apples are just some of the fruity treats you'll find lining the streets.
So clear your calendar for the second full weekend in October and get ready to join Bridgeville for the most Delaware festival ever.
Apple Scrapple will be held on October 12 and 13, 2018. Friday and Saturday are both jam packed with foodie fun and live entertainment! This event is perfect for families, couples, and people of all ages. For more information, check out their website, here.
