Brandywine Creek State Park in Wilmington promises a full menu of activities - from hiking to fishing - for outdoor enthusiasts.
The 933-acre park is also home to River Run Loop Trail, a lush green path that boasts scores of trees. In some spots, you might even feel as though you're strolling through a tunnel of trees.
Rocky Run Loop Trail tallies just over three miles and shows off such natural features as shimmering creeks, small waterfalls, and a ton of trees.
Be prepared for somewhat of a challenge along this trail that's earned a moderate rating. The trail features uphill climbs and rocky terrain.
You'll definitely want to wear a pair of sturdy hiking shoes or boots. You'll have to cross a few streams, so make sure you're okay with your shoes getting wet. (The streams may swell after a rainfall, making it a challenge to cross.)
If you're hiking in the warmer months, lather up on the bug spray and the sunscreen. The trail can get quite buggy.
Rocky Run Loop Trail can be somewhat challenging to follow, so you might want to print out a trail map or use your GPS (or an app like All Trails) to make it easier.
