Nowadays, many of us travel to the local big box store like Walmart to purchase our fruits and vegetables. There's nothing wrong with that, but it certainly makes you feel a little disconnected from where food comes from. Taking a visit to a farmers market in Connecticut is a colorful way to be reminded of the source of our produce and support small local businesses at the same time. The Coventry Farmers Market is one of our favorites. This massive weekly fair has a variety of vendors selling everything from raw produce to prepared foods to flowers and even crafts. It's a great family event that will really brighten up your weekend!
The array of products here is pretty impressive. You'll find such a wide variety of goods!
This is the largest farmers market in Connecticut, and it's been around for nearly 20 years. You'll find the weekly setup each Sunday from June through October.
Vendors vary weekly, but expect to see some offering up animal products. You'll never want to go back to store-bought milk again after you've tried farm-fresh. You can also typically pick up yogurt, eggs, honey, and even meat.
Of course, there's plenty of fresh vegetables for sale.
You'll also find a wide variety of locally-grown fruit.
There are typically plenty of gorgeous flowers available in a rainbow of colors.
You'll also find lots of crafts, plus other products like spices, herbs, maple syrup, and even dog treats.
To top it all off, there are food trucks available each week serving up delicious prepared foods!
This is such a great (and colorful!) weekend outing that's perfect for the whole family!
