However, if you live in one of our larger cities, it can sometimes be hard to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life to make it to our nature-friendly areas. If you find yourself feeling more familiar with pavements and buildings than greenery and waterfalls, don't sweat it. We've got the perfect spot for those in the greater capital area. Newington is a busy suburb with around 30,000 residents. It's only 10 minutes outside of Hartford proper, so you might think there's not much in the way of natural outings here, but you'd be wrong! Mill Pond Park in Newington, CT is a lovely little park that makes for a perfect escape from the city.

The calendar of events has plenty of outdoor festivals and concerts, especially in the warmer months.
There's a nature trail, plus a pool, basketball court, soccer fields, and baseball field.

Visit in the spring and you might even catch a glimpse of some adorable goslings!
The crowning jewel of the park is Mill Pond Falls, a little 12-foot waterfall flowing over picturesque rocks and underneath a bridge.
Visit after heavy rains and you'll be treated to a powerful scene. The falls look much larger after precipitation!
Whether you visit to see the falls or just take a quiet walk around the scenic pond, this is a charming little park that offers a quiet escape from urban life.
