Many of us dine out regularly, and, of course, restaurants in Connecticut are a dime a dozen. There's certainly no shortage of places to eat, whether you're looking for a fancy night on the town or just want a quick grab-and-go meal. Next time you're looking for something a little more special, though, we've gathered up some of the most notable unique restaurants in Connecticut. These spots are not just meals: they're entire experiences all on their own!
1. Famous 50's Diner: 472 Huntington Turnpike, Bridgeport, CT 06610
There's something special about a 1950s-themed diner. Whether you're old enough to remember these days or just like feeling like you stepped onto the set of Happy Days, you'll enjoy Famous 50's Diner in Bridgeport, CT.
The menu here is surprisingly varied, with all-day breakfast and a wide array of sandwiches, burgers, and more available for lunch. Check out hours and a full menu on the Famous 50's Diner website.
2. Uncle Buck's Fish Bowl and Grill: 1 Bass Pro Dr, Bridgeport, CT 06608
If you want a one-of-a-kind experience, it doesn't get much better than the underwater-themed Uncle Buck's Fish Bowl and Grill, a unique bowling alley restaurant set inside Bass Pro Shop in Bridgeport, CT.
Seriously, this place will have you feeling like you stepped under the sea!
It's a great family restaurant, with plenty to choose from. The casual menu is full of pizzas, chicken fingers, and burgers.
3. The Place Restaurant: 901 Boston Post Rd, Guilford, CT 06437
The Place has one of my favorite vibes of any restaurant in Connecticut. It's such a fun, laid-back atmosphere here, with outdoor dining on tree stumps in the middle of the woods.
This seafood restaurant in Guilford, CT is about as far from a fine dining ambiance as it gets, but the food is delicious. It's cooked over a giant open fire pit right in front of you.
4. Han Hot Pot House: 310 Prospect Ave, Hartford, CT 06106,
Another unique dining experience can be enjoyed at Han Hot Pot House in Hartford. This Chinese restaurant specializes in hot pot dishes.
This place is super-customizable: you can pick all the ingredients for your soup. It's a great communal experience, so make sure to bring your friends or family!
5. East Side Restaurant: 131 Dwight St, New Britain, CT 06051
Want to head to Germany but can't afford a plane ticket? A meal at East Side Restaurant in New Britain is the next best thing.
The menu is full of German delights. There's also an upstairs beer garden if you'd like to indulge in a few steins.
A professional accordion player is often on the schedule, adding even more of a European flair to the meal!
6. Food Truck Paradise: 351 Long Wharf Dr, New Haven, CT 06511
If you're dining with a group of picky eaters, it can be tough to find something everyone agrees on. A great solution is to hit up Food Truck Paradise in New Haven.
There are several collections of food trucks throughout Elm City. This is a great way to support small businesses while trying out a variety of dishes.
