Connecticut's beaches have some beautiful scenery and tend to draw many visitors during the hot summer months. Further inland there is a spot that boasts some of the clearest water to be found. This little swimming hole has a great recreation area and some pretty awesome scenery. Black Rock Pond isn't the biggest freshwater swimming spot, but it is one of the prettiest around.
Black Rock Pond is located in the 444-acre Black Rock State Park in Watertown.
The water in the pond can be extremely clear and fairly warm making it a sought out spot in the summertime.
Find a sandy guarded beach area which is the perfect spot to take a swim.
Anglers seek out the park for its trout and hikers enjoy the shady wooded trails.
Hikes can take anywhere from a short half hour to all day depending on the trail.
Climb to the summit of Black Rock to enjoy sweeping panoramic views of nearby towns.
The park also offers 78 campsites in wooded and field settings. Enjoy an overnight getaway at this beautiful spot.
Black Rock Pond is one of Connecticut's underrated little gems. Visit the park daily from Memorial Day- October 1st from 8 a.m. - sunset.
