When it comes to ethnic foods in Connecticut, Polish food is not usually the first thing to mind. We are famous for our Connecticut-style apizza down in New Haven, and we've got plenty of great Mexican joints and authentic Italian spots. But head to New Britain's Little Poland area and you'll find some of the best Polish restaurants in Connecticut! Here are a few of our favorites:
1. Staropolska Restaurant: 252 Broad St, New Britain, CT 06053
Staropolska is widely considered to have the best pierogis in Connecticut. You can get them in fruit or savory flavors.
You'll find large portions and made-from-scratch goodness here. The family recipes will make you feel like you're at a Polish family reunion!
2. EuroPLATE:Polish Restaurant: 100 Broad St, New Britain, CT 06053
EuroPLATE serves up traditional Polish food like meat, soups, pierogis, and salads. There's a wide variety to choose from here. The restaurant is small, but comfortable.
The food is as good as it looks, and with such generous portions, you won't go home hungry. It's definitely one of the best restaurants in New Britain's Little Poland!
3. Polonia Taste LLC: 99 Broad St, New Britain, CT 06053
Polonia Taste, also known as A Taste of Poland, is a delightful little cafeteria-style spot that looks like a bit of a hole-in-the-wall. It may not look like much, but the food is delicious!
The food is cooked in small quantities, so it's guaranteed to be hot and fresh. This is another small restaurant with only a few tables, so many opt to get the food to-go.
4. Roly Poly Bakery: 587 Main St, New Britain, CT 06051
Roly Poly Bakery is a little different than the other spots on this list: it's a European food store specializing in Polish products, rather than just a restaurant.
However, you'll also find a small restaurant inside serving up delicious stuffed cabbage, pierogis, bread, and salad. You'll feel like you took a trip to Poland after a visit here.
5. Belvedere Cafe and Restaurant: 82 Broad St, New Britain, CT 06053
Belvedere Restaurant is one of the newer restaurants in New Britain. This place is a little more upscale than the others on this list.
During the day, Belvedere serves up Polish and European dishes just like grandma used to make. At night, the restaurant becomes a full-service bar.
Have you ever visited any of these spots in New Britain's Little Poland? Or do you know of any other Polish restaurants in Connecticut that we should check out? Share your experiences in the comments!
