Mueller State Park is one of our state's loveliest state parks and it's a great place to go to bid a fond farewell to summer. Fortunately, the staff at this park have put together a fantastic event to help you do just that. On August 26th, Mueller State Park will be hosting its annual Western Heritage Day and it's sure to be fun for the whole family. The land upon which this park sits was home to Native Americans and later to ranchers, so there's no better place to celebrate the incredible history of our great state. Mueller State Park is wonderful! This 5,112-acre state park near Divide offers many outdoor activities including camping, biking, hunting, horseback riding, hunting, and so much more.
It's absolutely beautiful! You'll find 55 miles of trails in this park and abundant wildlife. Elk, black bears, eagles, hawks, and bighorn sheep make this park their home.
There are so many beautiful areas to explore in Mueller State Park. It's open year-round and it's one of the best state parks in our state if you ask me.
An additional bonus of this park is its historical aspect. This park was home to Native Americans for hundreds of years before the settlers came. Later, settlers used this area for ranching. There are still historic structures that you can check out in the park.
The Mueller State Park Visitor Center is a great place to go to learn more about the history and natural features of the park. The hardworking staff at this park are happy to answer any questions you might have. They are also always planning exciting events like the park's annual Western Heritage Day!
Western Heritage Day is fun and educational for the whole family. There are pony rides for the kids - and they're free!
There's also a Stick Horse Rodeo happening - your kids will love participating in it.
You can learn about Dutch oven cooking during the event, and maybe even try some treats made over the fire.
You might also try your hand at panning for gold - good luck!
There are also opportunities to try some pioneer crafts.
Enjoy a hayride to the historic Cheesman Ranch.
And, you can relax and listen to some frontier music during your visit as well.
On top of all that, you can pet the farm animals, participate in some games, and generally enjoy the park, learn about our state's history, and meet some of your neighbors. Western Heritage Day is a fantastic event and once you go once, you'll want to go back every year.
