When it comes to hidden gems in Colorado, some of the biggest and brightest of all may just be our unique small towns. Since we are home to hundreds of these tinier communities, it is nearly impossible to see and experience every one of them, which is why we enjoy highlighting a different one every chance we get. Today we are exploring a small northwest Colorado town that is not only beautiful but home to a delicious restaurant you just can't pass up:

Built in 1906, the building housing the Cafe has worn many hats over the years (including saloon, pool hall, and gambling den) before transitioning to a restaurant in 1997. It stays true to its roots thanks to its low-key Western ambiance.

The Fifty-Niner is a speakeasy that's hidden in the back of The Dice Guys Game Store. You can enjoy craft cocktails and beers in a comfortable space at this cool spot, plus play games from the game store's 200 game library while you're there. It's a fantastic store with lots of fun games of all kinds. The store offers pre-orders on new games, leagues, and even a summer camp.

What you might not know about The Dice Guys is that it has a secret speakeasy in the back!

This space is a nod to local history. In 1859, prospectors came to find gold and many settled in Old Colorado City. The building in which the game store and the speakeasy are located is across from the original Territory Colorado Capital.

When you enter, you'll find a comfortable space that has plenty of room for relaxing, imbibing, eating, and playing games.

It's the perfect place to take a date!

The drinks offered here are both beautiful and tasty. You might try The Fifty-Niner's Our signature house drink comprised of bourbon, splash of Topo Chico, freshly squeezed lemon, honey, and garnished with a sprig of mint dusted with edible gold flake.

Of course, there are other cocktails served here as well, along with beer and wine, too.

On top of great drinks, The Fifty-Niner also serves food! One of the paninis served here will surely hit the spot.

Perhaps the best feature of The Fifty-Niner, though, is the game library. The Dice Guys offer a 200 game library here and you can choose one or several to play while you're on your date.
