This time of year, there is nothing quite as enjoyable as being outside and the feeling of the warm Colorado sun against your skin! If you are looking for a fun, new way to spend time outdoors, we recommend visiting this unique Colorado river walk that is truly out-of-this world:
The Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo (a.k.a the Pueblo Riverwalk) is located in - you guessed it - Pueblo, Colorado.
This 32-acre urban recreational area is centered around the water-based environment and provides educational opportunities to the public, free of charge.
Nicknamed "Pueblo's Happy Place," the Riverwalk is quite possibly the most popular attraction in the city, boasting both beautiful scenery and entertainment galore!
The Riverwalk was constructed as part of an urban renewal project to spruce up the area and attract visitors to the city.
What kind of fun can you expect to find along the Pueblo Riverwalk?
The mile-long pathway is a great way to get out and stretch your legs, and there's tons to see and do along the way.
There are unique stores and tasty restaurants sprinkled throughout the historic district, so stroll through the shops and grab a bite to eat!
You'll also find free concerts and outdoor movies!
The Riverwalk is also a prime spot for festivals and special events.
There are several areas that can rented out for private parties and events.
Holiday celebrations hosted here - especially for the 4th of July, Halloween, and Christmastime - are fun and family-friendly.
However, the most unique attraction is the gondola rides along the historic Arkansas River!
If you're not up for a gondola ride, there are also larger excursion boats that will carry you on a lovely little tour of the canals.
The gondolas and excursion boats run regularly from May through September, though operating hours vary based on the season.
There are pedal boats to rent as well!
Click here for more information on the different boat tours and schedules.
If you visit during the summer, make sure to time your trip so you can visit the fantastic farmers market!
It takes place every Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. from late June through mid-September.
And make sure to pay a visit to the beautiful Veterans' Bridge while you're here!
