I feel pretty confident in saying that there is no better place in the world to camp than Colorado. However, if you are looking for a camping experience that goes above and beyond Colorado's already nearly-perfect grounds, there is no topping a magical night at the Oh Be Joyful Campground. This waterfall campground in Crested Butte, Colorado stuns from the get-go and soothes the soul with the sights and sounds of nature for a dreamy natural getaway. Add this one to your next waterfall-hunting adventure!
Let me begin by saying that no matter where you pitch your tent (or park your camper) at the Gunnison National Forest campground, you are basically guaranteed some of the most pristine sights, sounds, and outdoor opportunities available at your fingertips.
From babbling brooks to colorful wildflowers to stellar kayaking, this gorgeous campground in Colorado has it all!
But of all the sites here…Oh Be Joyful is truly something.
In fact, if you are looking to get the most out of your camping experience and make some of the most stunning memories imaginable, consider setting up camp alongside one of Joyful's cascading waterfalls.
Like this one.
Or this one.
Both big and small, the waterfalls here in the national forest are just a short hike away from the main campsites, which are scenically nestled in the trees.
Secluded campsites come equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and views.
The river runs through the campground and makes the perfect place to splash and contemplate. You'll also find some phenomenal lake hikes in the area.
Oh Be Joyful sits perfectly situated in between the Uncompagre National Forest, White River National Forest, and the Pike and San Isabal National Forest, so the woodsy setting is second to none. This is waterfall camping in Colorado at its most rugged!
But that also means bears…so take extra precautions. I'm talking bear spray, canisters, no trash, etc. Be aware.
Whether you spend your weekend here relaxing by a campfire, by the water, or exploring one of the many MANY wildflower trails in the area, camping with waterfalls surely takes the cake and will make this outing one for the memory books.
