Yes, that’s right, there’s an underground movie theater in Sulphur Springs, how cool does that sound? Grab a chair and a blanket and let’s kick off the Halloween season at this spooktacular event.
Tucked away in the northwest region of Arkansas is the town of Sulphur Springs and its home to the Old Spanish Treasure Cave.
Located off State Road 59, this cavern tells legends of Spanish Conquistadors, buried treasures, lost spirits, and more. So, it’s no wonder that it attracts visitors from all over the state.

They come to hear all about the mysteries of the legendary cave and to see the incredible rock formations as well as the critters that dwell inside.
Currently, the cavern is owned and operated by the Linscott family, who conducts tours, run the gift shop, offer camps, as well as other fun activities throughout the year.
But what makes this cavern stand out from the rest is that it also has a movie theater and hosts movie nights from a makeshift campground inside the cave.
Yep, you heard that right. And from now until October 30th, you can watch classic Halloween flicks on a massive screen from deep inside the dark and spooky cavern.
The scary movies are shown on Friday, Saturday or Sunday evenings and they include Gremlins, Friday the 13th, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Halloween, just to name a few.

This one-of-a-kind adventure is great for the entire family. However, some movies might not be suitable for younger kids. So, be sure to check the movie schedule and plan your adventure accordingly.
Bring your chairs and blankets, so that you can be comfortable inside the cave. Also, the temperature inside the cavern is a cool 58 degrees, so be prepared by wearing the appropriate clothing.
Once you purchase your online movie tickets, there is no refund unless the movie is canceled by the owners.
Additionally, you must be at the entrance 30 minutes prior to showtime. You'll then wait to be escorted to the seating area to set up your chairs. Unfortunately, no late entry will be allowed.

Don’t you love it when you travel off the beaten path only to discover a hidden gem you had no clue existed? Surely, this is a common occurrence living in a state like Arkansas. It’s what I love most about the Natural State, there is always a new treasure waiting to be discovered. We found a cool cave hiding inside Bayyari Park in Springdale. And unless you live in the area, chances are, you’ve never heard of Coyote Cave. It's tucked away on a rocky trail inside the foothills of the Ozarks, and you’re going to want to check out this hidden natural wonder in Arkansas for yourself.

Springdale is one of the largest cities in Arkansas, but it’s not the first place that comes to my mind when seeking outdoor adventure. It’s mostly popular for mountain bikers who love to ride the network of trails inside Fitzgerald Mountain. And that’s exactly where you’ll find Coyote Cave. This cave is one of the highlights of the trail system and the definition of a true hidden gem.
The easiest way to access Coyote Cave is from Bayyari Park on Deer Valley Street in Springdale. The 15-acre park is the gateway to the vast multi-use trail system that includes Coyote Cave and Butterfield Loop, Old Wire Trail, and Stagecoach Loop, just to name a few. If you’re an avid rider, you’ll be delighted to know that the trail has something for all experience levels. So, feel free to bring your mountain bike to explore the scenic terrain.
Hikers, no need to worry as this 3-mile loop trail has plenty of fun for you too. There are overlooks, towering bluffs, large rock formations, caves, and you’ll be surrounded by a canopy of trees. It will take you about an hour to complete, but I recommend that you take your time to enjoy the hidden gems along the way. The trail is rocky in certain areas, so don’t leave home without your hiking boots. Also, it’s both kid and dog friendly, so they can come along on this journey. Make sure the dogs remain on the leash though.
When you get to Coyote Cave, you’ll immediately notice the large openings leading to its crevices. They look like hollowed out eyes, so you might be a bit creeped out. If you’re anything like me, you may even wonder what kind of critters are living inside. But I know you’re brave, so you should step inside to get a better view. You can also capture some really cool footage from within. Plus, the cave has multiple passageways, which the little ones will love.
After you’re done exploring this natural wonder in Arkansas, you can continue back to the parking lot. Or better yet, spend the day exploring the other trails. What’s more, Bayyari Park has a playground, picnic areas, and grills, so this could easily turn into an all-day outing. Pro Tip: The Coyote Cave and Butterfield Trails Loop is extremely rocky, so be careful and watch your step. And please listen out for bikers as you trek.
Also, it won’t hurt to download AllTrails, since there are several connecting trails inside the park. It can get tricky to stay on track.
Coyote Cave isn’t the only hidden gem in Springdale, it’s also home to the legendary Neal’s Café. This beloved, family-owned restaurant has been serving up soul-comforting food since 1944. Be sure to stop by when you’re there! Oh, before I forget, if you need a place to stay, book a room at the Inn at the Mill, our favorite historic hotel in Springdale.
