I am a nature lover and self-proclaimed foodie wrapped in one package. In my previous life, I was an Accountant, but numbers were boring and writing is the only thing that fuels my soul. So, I write because it's my freedom...it brings me joy. When I'm not writing dope articles for OnlyInYourState, I am writing and editing articles for my online blog on Medium.com. Or, when I get the chance, I am off on a trip with my family chasing waterfalls, or simply exploring the great outdoors. My mantra is to always find the best part of every day and bask in it.
Arkansas is one of the best states to live in if you love the great outdoors. There are forests, lakes, mountains, and endless waterfalls to explore. Some of our favorite cascades are found inside the Ozark Forest and today, we’re taking you on a hike to explore 4 waterfalls on this short Ozark Highlands Trail near the tiny town of Oark. Wear comfortable shoes and plan to get wet as there are some water crossings as well as swimming holes along the way. This is one of the most exhilirating waterfall hikes in Arkansas and you’ll want to add to your list.
At 1.5-miles long, the Lichen Falls and Lynn Hollow Falls Trail is an easy trek inside the Ozark National Forest. The trail is part of the 220-mile Ozark Highlands Trail, so it's well-traversed.
You should have no issues finding your way to the multiple waterfalls on this trail. There are also creek crossings, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and prepare to get wet.
One of the first falls you'll come to is Lichen Falls. It's not a heavy flowing waterfall, in fact, the water trickles over the bluffs and it reminds me of the rain. It's a pretty place to stop and take some pics for your collection.
As you continue to meander on the trail, you'll also encounter tiny little cascades. Though they are unnamed, it doesn't dim their beauty. They're still worth the stop to admire.
Lynn Hollow Falls is by far the best waterfall on the trail. The pretty little cascade flows over a series of rocks before plunging into the bluest lagoon. The dogs and the kids will love this swimming hole. It's a great place to cool off at the end of the trek.
Pack a lunch and stay for a while enjoying the lovely scenery at the end of this waterfall hike in Arkansas. It's best you take this hike during the rainy season, and of course, be prepared to get wet, so wear proper shoes.
Don’t forget to download AllTrails+ so that you can have access to photos, trail conditions, as well as some cool perks. After you’ve conquered this waterfall hike in Arkansas, how about you grab a bite to eat? Oark General Store, one of the oldest restaurants in Arkansas, is only 15 minutes away. The burgers there are to die for!
