Going to the zoo can be a fun adventure for the entire family. And while at the zoo, we sometimes want to play up close with some of the adorable animals. Of course, that is not always possible, but there are petting zoos that allow for a more interactive experience. Thankfully, Arkansas has one of the best petting zoos, and the animal interaction makes it an adorable fun adventure.
Located at 847 Whittington Avenue in Hot Springs, the Arkansas Alligator Farm and Petting Zoo has been providing family-friendly entertainment since 1902.
Currently, the zoo is open seven days per week from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. But the schedule changes during the year, so always check the website before you go.
The cost of admission is $9.00 for adults and $7.00 for children 12 and under. Children under 2 are free of charge.
There are group discounts as well as military and senior discounts.
The zoo is home to pygmy goats, turtles, raccoons, a mountain lion, emus, donkeys and so much more. But with over 100 gators on the premises, they provide the greatest entertainment at the zoo.
Enjoy the live gator feeding show on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from May to October. You can also feed some of the gators and learn some interesting facts from the caretaker.
While the gators are the biggest attraction, there are some adorable animals that really steal the show.
And those adorable animals are these fluffy American bunnies.
Just look at how cute and cuddly this little guy is. Cuteness overload!!!
The little ones especially enjoy the interactive experience of feeding the bunnies inside the enclosure.
They also love holding and petting these fluffy little guys.
Another animal that offers an adorable encounter is the pygmy goat. These baby goats love to interact with the visitors of the zoo.
Grab some food and feed it to the goats, then, enjoy a sweet cuddle session with them.
Along with the goats, the miniature donkeys enjoy interacting with visitors. But sometimes, they too wish that they could cuddle with you.
There are tons of fun activities at the park, and lots of props that make for great photo ops.
Before you leave, stop by the gift store and buy one of these adorable rabbit feet.
They will bring you some good fortune in your life. And, they will be a reminder of the amazing experience the kids had with these adorable bunnies.
