Camp Taco isn’t just one of Arkansas’ newest restaurants. It’s one of the most unique, too. And that’s because it’s inspired by summer camps throughout the decades. The nostalgic setting isn’t the only thing that makes it unique, though. There’s also the menu, which is filled with creative, one-of-a-kind dishes.
In October 2021, Camp Taco opened in the space formerly occupied by Rebel Kettle Brewing in Little Rock.
The small-batch brewery and taco joint is an extension of Lost Forty Brewing.
Originally, it was opened so that the brew team could create and showcase new recipes. Before long, though, it evolved into a concept restaurant that’s overflowing with nostalgia!
Inspiration for the space was pulled from “summer camp and woodland camping across the decades.” The end result is a setting that resembles a cabin or campsite that’s been in the family for decades.
Nods to the past include everything from strategically placed retro items and TV displays from the 1980s to 1960s-inspired seating and wood paneling from a company that hasn’t changed its product since the 1970s.
There’s also a turf-lined outdoor space – complete with faux kerosene lamps.
The retro theme even extends to the drink menu. Dubbed the “Counselor’s Lounge,” the beverage selection includes themed mocktails and cocktails, like the Lava Lamp-A-Lada.
Featuring a mix of dips, tacos, salads, bowls, and Mexican ramen, the food menu is just as drool-worthy.
As the eatery’s name implies, tacos are a menu staple and come in a variety of proteins and flavors.
Other menu highlights include an array of vegan dishes as well as house-made popsicles, which come in all sorts of flavors, including boozy varieties.
Serving up a unique fare in a setting to match, Camp Taco is the first of its kind, and you’ve got to visit!
