The Natural State is fortunate to have so many outstanding campgrounds. Whether you're searching for a lakeside spot or want to be secluded in the forest, Arkansas can certainly provide. One particular place has more selection than any other spot in the state. Devil's Den State Park has an unbelievably large selection of campsites which makes it a favorite for families of any size.
One of the most beloved state parks in Arkansas, Devil's Den, is a favorite for camping.
The 2,500-acre park has 177 campsites. For perspective, if every campsite had a family of four the park would have about the same population as Altus. The park is located at 120812 W Devils Den Rd., Winslow, AR 72959.
The majority of the sites include hook-ups for a comfortable stay.
There's also 42 sites available at the horse camp if you prefer to have an equine adventure.
If you're more of a "rough it in the woods" type, primitive sites are also available.
Put your scout meetings to good use at one of the 24 Class D sites.
If you'd rather cozy up in front of a fireplace, you can also stay the night in one of the park's cabins.
Devil's Den has 17 cabins that come with fireplaces and kitchens.
Be sure to take advantage of the park's numerous activities during your camping trip.
There's about 50 miles of hiking between the park's 11 trails. Backpack the 15-mile Butterfield Trail or leisurely take in the sights along the ¼-mile Woody Plant Trail.
Depending on the season, swimming is another fun to-do at Devil's Den.
Slide into the park's swimming pool during the summer.
Canoes and paddle boats are also available for some water fun.
Fishing for trout and catfish is another popular park pastime.
Since fall will soon be upon us, there's no better time to plan a weekend camping trip.
With so many sites to choose from, you can be sure to have the perfect camping spot.
