Looking for the picture perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon in Arizona? If you don’t want to get fried to a crisp under a desert sun, then head up to the cooler temperatures in the mountains for pines, lakes, and hiking trails. In fact, let’s take a look at one lake that feels a bit like paradise.
This is Lynx Lake, located a short 14-minute drive from downtown Prescott and is one lovely little spot!
This lake was first formed in 1952, doubling as a water reservoir and fun recreation site where you can enjoy boating, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, or birding.
Most people who visit arrive for the boating and fishing opportunities on the calm, blue lake. Just make sure your boat is a single engine or, like the one seen here, is human-powered.
While spending time at Lynx Lake, you’ll get to see a diverse amount of wildlife that consider this home. Try to see how many different kinds of birds you can spot!
Camping in one of the three campsites here is popular and costs $18 per night for a single site.
Information on campsites and reserving a space can be found here.
How awesome would it be to see this before turning in for the night?
The lake is also home to several trails of varying lengths, ranging from a short, easy trail around the lake to a seven-mile trail to old ruins.
earby, you’ll also find the Lynx Lake Cafe and Store, which is the perfect spot to grab a meal overlooking the lake or stock up on necessary supplies.
Lynx Lake is located approximately 7 miles east of Prescott. You can find directions from Prescott at this link and more information about visiting at the U.S. Forest Service website.
