If you're a history buff or simply like to learn new things, the annual American Heritage Festival in Arizona belongs on your bucket list. Taking place each year in November, this weekend-long event takes guests on a fascinating journey through U.S. history from Colonial times all the way up to the 20th century. Equal parts fun and educational, it's a family-friendly event that'll make your fall season one to remember.
An interactive, grand-scale celebration of U.S. history, the American Heritage Festival takes visitors on a fascinating journey from Colonial times to the 20th century.
In 2021, it will take place on November 18-20 at Schnepf Farms in Queen Creek.
The festival also boasts Arizona's first and largest battle reenactment of the American Revolution.
It's scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 12 p.m. on Saturday.
Adults and children dressed in period clothing assume various roles to portray different eras throughout history.
Everyone stays perfectly in character as you take a self-guided tour of the grounds and learn fascinating details about the ins and outs of early American life.
In addition to the American Revolution, you'll also see a battle reenactment of the Civil War followed by a Civil War medical demonstration in the Medical Tent.
From the outfits to the cannons and everything in between, it's realistic as can be.
You'll even get to see a historic fashion show!
While much different than the fashion shows of the 21st century, it's still wildly entertaining to see what the trends were so long ago.
Other activities include musical performances, speeches by famous Americans of the past, children's activities, an 18th-century style church service based on the "Great Awakening," and so much more.

The festival is open to families with children from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 20 (Thursday and Friday are for school groups only.) Admission is $20 per person at the door, except for children ages three and under, who get in free.
