We couldn’t pick a more delightful late spring and summer getaway than this creekside cottage blueberry farm Airbnb in Mentone, Alabama. Just minutes from downtown Mentone, Desoto Falls, and Desoto State Park, this modern tiny home is in the center of eclectic shops, beautiful scenery, and countless nature trails. And yet once you get cozy at the Butterfly Creek Cottage on Bent Creek, you may not want to leave for long.
Step inside the main living space, which includes warm, eclectic, nature-inspired decor. Tune into something entertaining on the TV as you prepare a meal in the kitchen, which has the basic things you need for cooking and serving plus coffee essentials for the morning. While this is a two-bedroom, one-bath, it could sleep as many as six because the couch pulls out into a queen-sized bed in addition to the queen-bed enclosed bedroom. The loft space is visible from the living area and has two twin-sized beds tucked on each side of the steps.
I must say as inviting as the indoors are here, you'll want to take advantage of the outside spaces in this neck of the woods. Mentone is legendary for its natural beauty all year long. Take in the scenes of serene woods and the bubbling creek from covered porches on both ends of the house or the outdoor seating area. The cottage has a large propane grill if a cookout strikes your fancy.
One porch features a private hot tub, which can be added to the stay for an additional fee. Imagine following a relaxing soak with a few steps to recline around the fire pit with morning coffee or a nightcap under the stars.
Within a short walk of the cottage is an overlook bridge and deck to see the waterfall for which the farm is named, Blueberry Falls. There is also an extra detached bathhouse with an additional shower, toilet, and sink for guests.
Inside downstairs space by the falls you can work on your foosball and gaming skills in The Creek House Lounge, a shared space among the handful of other tiny homes on the property.
Guests can pick blueberries during the season from late June into early August. Note that the farm is open to the public for U-pick events, including the farm's blueberry festival during the second weekend of July. While the houses are located away from the farm's bushes, you may want to book just before or after the picking season for a more secluded feel.
We think you’ll agree this blueberry farm Airbnb in Mentone, Alabama is a smart pick for a spring retreat. If you do go during picking season, I have found the perfect thing to bring to treat your fresh-picked blueberries in style: How pretty is this stoneware berry strainer? Let us know when you go! We would love to hear all about your experience.
