I’ve always been fascinated by aerial photography. The amount of detail that goes into each photo is amazing! Without a doubt, aerial photography captures the beauty of Alabama in such a unique way, and here are 11 incredible aerial shots that prove it:
1. Mobile Bay
Mobile Bay is an inlet of the Gulf of Mexico. During the Civil War, this location was used as a major port for blockade runners.
2. Fort Morgan
Fort Morgan is a historic masonry star fort at the mouth of Mobile Bay. It's believed to be haunted.
3. Bayou La Batre Harbor
Founded in 1786, Bayou La Batre is a fishing village in southern Alabama and was the first permanent settlement on the south Mobile County mainland. Its harbor is used for fishing boats and shrimp boats.
4. Alabama Farm
This beautiful piece of farmland is located in Huntsville.
5. John Hollis Bankhead Lock and Dam
John Hollis Bankhead Lock and Dam is located on the Black Warrior River in Tuscaloosa County. It's 1,400 feet wide and 77 feet high.
6. Birmingham
Founded in 1871, and with a population of approximately 213,000, Birmingham is Alabama's largest city.
7. Smith Lake
Smith Lake is located on the Sipsey Fork of the Black Warrior River and it covers more than 21,000 acres in Cullman, Walker and Winston counties.
8. Gadsden
Gadsden is the county seat of Etowah County and is located on the Coosa River.

9. Jordan Lake
Located in Elmore County, Jordan Lake is a recreational lake that provides several different types of bass fishing opportunities.
