If you ask us, it really doesn’t get much better than camping in Maryland. Our state is filled with dense forests, rugged mountain overlooks, and expansive water views — landscapes that lend themselves perfectly to a night spent under the stars. If you’re looking for one of the best camping spots in Maryland, we’d recommend Janes Island State Park.
Tucked away on Maryland's Eastern Shore awaits a hidden gem of a camping destination in Maryland: Janes Island.
This stunning state park is an invitation to explore all the bounties of the Chesapeake Bay. Whether you're looking for an adrenaline-pumping adventure or soothing recreational activities, you'll find no shortage of things to do.
The park is divided into a mainland and an island portion. The island portion is awe-inspiring, with nearly 3,000 acres of salt marsh, 30 miles of water trails, and beautiful beaches to explore. Not to mention the abundance of wildlife that call the island home.
Those interested in these sites will need a special permit from the park. For more information about these backcountry permits, call (410) 968-1565.
