Discover 6 Of West Virginia's Most Iconic Views On This Epic 4-Hour Road Trip
Who’s up for a road trip? I am, especially if said road trip hits up some of the most iconic views in one of my favorite states: Wild, Wonderful, Almost Heaven West Virginia. Grab a map (this one’s my favorite and has stood me in good stead whenever my cell service gets spotty) and let’s go!

Grandview, 4700 Grandview Rd, Beaver, WV 25813, USA
West Virginia is full of grand views, so it should tell you something that THIS view earned the name Grandview. Plus, it's a great introduction to the New River Gorge region. Other than the view, the most famous thing about this spot is its towering rhododendron bushes that burst into full bloom in late May and early June.

Sandstone Falls, West Virginia 25918, USA
This waterfall spans the entire New River, and even though it requires a bit of a drive to reach, it's well worth the added minutes, as it represents one of the most famous waterfalls in West Virginia (Blackwater Falls being the other, but too far a drive for the purposes of this road trip!).

Glade Creek Grist Mill, Park Forest 802, Danese, WV 25831, USA
Glade Creek Gristmill is one of the most photographed scenes in West Virginia. You'll spot it on calendars, desktop backgrounds, and more. And in truth, when my family and I visited Glade Creek Gristmill in Babcock State Park, we found it even more beautiful than the pictures.

New River Gorge Bridge, U.S. Hwy 19, Victor, WV 25938, USA
The view of the New River Gorge Bridge from the Canyon Rim Visitors Center Overlook is a must, in terms of most iconic West Virginia views. The New River Gorge is perhaps West Virginia's defining feature, and the bridge that spans it is as recognizable as it gets (it even shows up on our state quarter).

Summersville Lake, West Virginia, USA
As West Virginia's largest lake and the Little Bahamas of the East, Summersville Lake is a sight to behold. It's also the home of West Virginia's newest state park, and it's filled with opportunities for boating, rock climbing, beach sitting, hiking, and more.

The Greenbrier, 101 W Main St, White Sulphur Springs, WV 24986, USA
If the New River Gorge is West Virginia's defining natural wonder and the New River Gorge Bridge the defining structure, then the Greenbrier Resort is perhaps its defining building. And hidden within this massive campus is all sorts of interesting things to discover: a secret underground bunker. A year round Christmas shop. The chandelier from Gone With The Wind. The list could go on!
