There’s not much more delightful than going on a long hike and being surprised by a cute waterfall. That’s something that can happen in New York State, and we should all be appreciative of how special that is. IBM Glen is an underrated hiking area in Broome County, New York that also has a cool little waterfall, and we think it’s one of the best waterfall hikes in all of New York State. Want to learn more? Just keep reading!
IBM Glen is a 200 acre forest located within the village of Endicott, which is part of the Town of Union, New York, which exists in the southern part of the state. It’s the perfect place to go on a hike and also check out some serious scenery.
Inside of IBM Glen, there is a mature forest that has some of the oldest and biggest trees in the whole area. The Glen’s trees, bird, and animal life has been a major part of the region for centuries. It was bought by IBM in 1930 and used as a recreation area for workers, but was sold in 1990.
The trail loop is 2.5 miles, and takes around an hour or so to complete. Most hikers agree that it can be either an easy or hard hike, depending on the trail—The Creek Trail is the hardest.
Ambling around IBM Glen makes for a perfect summer afternoon activity. We can’t recommend it enough. While in the area for this waterfall hike in New York State, why not also check out a great polish meal at Podlaise Polish Restaurant, which has some of the most authentic Polish food in the entire region. And for those looking for a place to stay around IBM Glen, we love Traditions Hotel & Spa, Ascend Hotel Collection, Johnson City.
