The Magnolia State isn’t exactly known for pizza. But that doesn’t mean you can’t find good pies in the state. In fact, some of the best pizza in America comes from TriBecca Allie Café, an eatery in small-town Mississippi. Take a look:
In 2010, the tiny town of Sardis, more specifically its culinary scene, got a bit bigger with the opening of TriBecca Allie Café on Main Street.
Since opening, the café has been revered for its pizza. At the end of last year, it was included in Daily Meal’s list of the 101 Best Pizzas in America.
That wasn’t the first time TriBecca Allie Cafe was praised, though. In addition to winning 2nd place in the American Pizza Championship, it was included in Travel Week’s Ultimate Pizza Road Trip.
Years in the making, the café’s owners, Rebecca and Damian Van Oostendorp, spent five years cultivating the dough recipe used to make their award-winning pies.
Damian Van Oostendorp spent even longer – more than 20 years! – perfecting the art of cooking in a wood-fired oven. The end result is Italian-style pizza with a thin, slightly charred crust.
Not sure which pizza to order? Try the Magnolia Rosa Insalata. The award-winning pie comes covered in four cheeses, red onion, pine nuts, mixed greens, and Mississippi pecans.
Though pizza takes up a majority of the menu, it’s not the only thing you’ll find on the menu. There are also an array of appetizers, soups, salads, calzones, and desserts.
TriBecca Allie Café is open for lunch (11 a.m. – 2 p.m.) on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. It’s also open for dinner (5 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.) Thursday thru Saturday. For more information, call (662) 487-2233. You can also visit the TriBecca Allie Café website or Facebook page.
