It doesn't take long to pick up on the vibes of an unfamiliar area. Unfortunately, transplants stick out like a sore thumb in most any state but especially Wyoming. Here are some things you will quickly learn after moving to the Cowboy State.
1. You will quickly learn about the friendly feud next door.
Every state has to have a friendly rival. For Wyoming, that would be the Greenies in the neighboring state. If you don't believe me, just attend the football game between Wyoming and Colorado when they're competing for the Bronze Boot.
2. It just not might be...but it is the most peaceful place on earth.
With the lowest population and the most scenic landscape in the country, you don't have to go far to find a beautiful remote and solitary spot to reflect and enjoy the quiet beauty around you.
3. Once a Wyomingite, always a Wyomingite.
Once in your blood, it flows deep into your soul. Wyoming will leave an impression on you like no other state. It is always a part of you.
4. To avoid certain parts of the state during the peak months of the tourist season.
Yellowstone, June through August, sees upwards of 30,000 visitors a day. Pictured is a crowd at Old Faithful and it's only half the crowd. You will learn to avoid these places like the plague during their busy seasons.
5. Wyomingites like their food natural and grown or raised locally.
Wyomingites like to buy food produced locally in the state. The homegrown food is more natural and less processed and is a great way to support our fellow Wyomingites and their local businesses.
6. Who serves the best chicken-fried steak.
Chicken-fried steak is one of the most popular menu items in restaurants throughout the state. Pictured is a serving from the Silver Spur Cafe in Sheridan.
7. To never underestimate the wind in Wyoming.
The wind in Wyoming is incredibly strong. The weather coming off of the Pacific, along with the Great Divide, make Wyoming a very windy state. Both Cheyenne and Casper are listed among the top 10 windiest cities in the country.
8. Nights in Wyoming are pure magic.
The skies in Wyoming perform their own magic show at night. Wyoming, with its unobstructed views of the sky, is the prettiest place on earth to view meteor showers, the Milky Way and other celestial events.
9. Winters are cold and harsh.
Winters in Wyoming can be very harsh. Very low temperatures and heavy snowfall is the norm during the winter months.
10. The economy is based on two elements: conservation and extraction.
Wyoming's economy is sometimes at odds with each other. The preserved parks and national forests attract the tourists. Mining and extractives provide jobs but are draining the land of its resources.
11. The cost of living is much lower in Wyoming.
Wyoming's cost of living is well below the national average. Wyoming is also ranked as the best state to live when it comes to taxes.
12. Overall, Wyoming is a very safe place to live.

It's the dawn of a new day and the start of a new adventure. This move to Wyoming will change the way you perceive life. It's a humbling experience next to the grandeur of the nature it encompasses. Take the time to slow down and truly appreciate the people and the world around you.
