One of the best ways to get in the holiday spirit is a trip to one of Oklahoma's small town Main Streets. During the holiday season many of them transform into winter wonderlands filled with Christmas decorations, lights and festivities. Here are 12 "main street" areas in the Sooner State that are pure magic during Christmastime.
1. Tonkawa
Tonkawa's Olde Tyme Christmas Celebration lights up downtown on December 7, 2016 and is a magical place to visit. Main Street turns into a Christmas town and is a must-visit this holiday season.
2. Jenks
The antique capital of Oklahoma, Jenks, lines Main Street with lights and festive decorations for the season. The small town charm really comes alive during Christmastime.
3. Enid
You won't find anything else in Oklahoma like the giant snow globe in Downtown Enid. Visitors can hop inside the larger than life size globe and get pictures taken, while enjoying all the lights, decorations and shopping in downtown.
4. Guthrie
The spirit of Christmas is displayed all over downtown historic Guthrie. Stroll the streets on the two Victorian Walk evenings where merchants decorate their windows with live scenes from the Victorian-era in Oklahoma, along with entertainment and Christmas festivities.
5. Sulphur
Downtown Sulphur becomes a magical place during Christmastime. From lights to banners to special events, Sulphur is a little Christmas gem. Make sure you visit the Artesian Hotel's Classic Christmas for more holiday decorations and activities.
6. Broken Arrow
Main Street Broken Arrow decorates its downtown Rose District in festive decorations and offers horse and carriage rides on various dates during Christmastime. The shops and restaurants are also filled with decorations and especially charming during the holiday season.
7. Tahlequah
Downtown Tahlequah has the oldest Main Street in the state and not only is it filled with history, but it has shops, dining and entertainment all throughout the area. Take a stroll down Main Street and enjoy the Christmas spirit!
8. Ardmore
A walk down Main Street in Ardmore is breathtaking with trees lit up and buildings draped with holiday lights. You can walk the streets and pick up a few Christmas gifts inside the unique shops.
9. Pawhuska
The charming downtown district in Pawhuska is home to the annual parade and is filled with holiday cheer. The new Mercantile Store by the Pioneer Woman is a popular spot to shop and eat, so make sure to check it out for one-of-a-kind gifts.
10. Claremore
The annual Dickens on Boulevard kicks off the holiday season in November, but the town keeps the spirit of Christmas alive well into the New Year. Take a trip to Main Street Claremore to enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas.
