Now that summer is pretty much here, it's time to get out and enjoy the North Dakota summertime. There's a ton you can do all over the state, but these are 10 things that I highly recommend putting on your list. They're all things that you, your family, and your friends will have a blast doing - and they'll also create some unforgettable memories.
1. Go to one of the big fairs or festivals such as the Valley Fair or the North Dakota State Fair.
2. Or check out your local county fair. See when your county's fair is; it'll be well worth attending!
3. Bike the Maah Daah Hey Trail...if you're tough enough.
4. Get up bright and early to go fishing on Devils Lake. The fish you can catch here will make a great story - and meal - to take home.
5. Try some amazing food at some of the state's food festivals, like the Best of the West Ribfest in Watford City.
6. See a kite festival and participate in it yourself. There are multiple in the state and all are awesome.
7. Go camping at a state park or national park. Get that true taste of North Dakota outdoors.
8. Take a trip on the Missouri River whether in a kayak or canoe, or on a riverboat. Or you can dive in yourself, of course.
9. Take part in the White Cloud Days in Jamestown and wish the famous albino buffalo a happy birthday and happy retirement with fun festival fares.
10. Visit some of North Dakota's speedways - now that's the stuff of a good summer night!
I have a feeling it's going to be a great summer! What are your big plans for the season?
