1. Ausable Chasm
Considered to be the oldest natural attraction in all of America, visiting Ausable Chasm gives you the chance to explore history, all while having the time of your life. Whether you choose to hike through this beautiful spot, or wait until the weather heats up so that you can float through history and one of our state's most stunning gorges, it's always an unforgettable time here at Ausable Chasm.
2. Montauk Lighthouse
As if the beautiful town of Montauk wasn't enticing enough, if you head all the way out to the end of the world, you can actually find the oldest lighthouse in all of New York. Offering up panoramic views of the ocean that never end, this is one piece of history that you'll easily fall in love with.
3. Ice Caves at Sam's Point Preserve
Within New York's Hudson Valley Region, you can find all sorts of unique landscapes but did you realize that there are actual caves you can hike through that maintain ice in them all year long? That's right! New York's famous Ice Caves at Sam's Point Preserve have ice inside of them, even on the hottest days of summer.
4. Watkins Glen State Park
The most famous gorge that you can explore in all of New York, between the months of May and October, New Yorkers and out-of-town visitors can explore a 2-mile long gorge trail that will take you past nearly 20 different waterfalls. Woah!
5. Mohonk Mountain House
For those of us who are seeking out an adventure that also comes with an enchanting castle that you can spend the night in, then look no further than the Mohonk Mountain House. Set within New York's scenic Hudson Valley region, right in New Paltz you can discover over 70-miles of hiking trails, a lake, a mountain house, and so much more at this one adventurous location. This just may be the most bucket list-worthy adventure on our list!
6. Kaaterskill Falls
Considered to be the tallest waterfall in all of New York State, if you've never taken the time to use Kaaterskill Falls as your own personal playground, then you're missing out! An outdoor adventure that's impossible to forget about, this more than 200-foot tall two-tiered waterfall is one of our most exciting natural wonders to explore - and it's tucked away right in the Northern Catskills.
7. Whiteface Mountain
While you'll be able to find 46 High Peaks in our Adirondack Mountains, you'll find that there's no other High Peak that you can drive up. That's right, while you can drive your car directly up to the summit, you can get pretty darn close! Drive to the top of New York's 5th tallest mountain and hike your way up a historic stone staircase, and before you know it you'll be in awe of the views of our breathtaking state from Whiteface Mountain.
8. Boldt Castle
Last but not least, it's time to go on a truly magical adventure in the Thousand Islands. Taking you out to Heart Island, Boldt Castle is a romantic adventure that will make you feel as though you were just dropped directly into a Disney movie. It doesn't get anymore romantic than this.
