Some people are lucky enough to be born and raised in Montana. Others find it later in life, but they adjust so quickly that you'd swear they were native Montanans.
If the majority of this list applies to you, you probably qualify as one of those two types of people.
1. You like sports (or you at least respect those who do), but you can't quite wrap your mind around supporting just one team for your entire life.
The beauty of Montana not having any professional sports teams means every Montanan gets to choose their team (or to choose not to care at all). Sometimes we even root for different teams every season. It happens!
2. Crowds freak you out...
3. ... and you just don't understand why anyone would do this to themselves on a permanent basis.
You might visit big, crowded cities, but you're more than happy to return home to your wide, open spaces.
4. Fishing and hunting are your idea of a good time.
You may or may not have missed both school and work in your lifetime to enjoy these activities.
5. You know that wild game is the best thing ever.
Just look at this delicious venison.
6. You make eye contact, smile often, greet strangers politely and hold doors open for others because that's just how you were raised.
This behavior certainly isn't exclusive to Montana, nor is every Montanan polite. But you won't meet many who don't have great manners.
7. You've chosen your loyalty... and for some reason, this applies even if you never went to either of these schools.
Go Griz? Or go Cats?
8. To you, nothing else will ever compare with the beauty of this place.
Glacier National Park is such a treasure.
9. Learning about what to do if you hit a deer (or how to avoid it if possible) was part of your standard driver's ed training.
10. This is how you meditate.
11. You don't mind driving... a lot of driving.
Growing up in Montana means the next town could be a two hour drive away, and driving across the state requires a ton of time and dedication.
12. No matter where you go or how long you stay away, Montana never fails to feel like home when you return.
To a true Montanan, this is home, plain and simple.
There's really only one downside to living in Montana... it ruins you for life.
