Road trips are a summer essential. There's something nostalgic about packing a picnic, some blankets, and setting off on an epic road trip and immersing yourself in nature for an afternoon. Well, pack up your bags and gas up the car, because this road trip will have you on an epic adventure through the rolling hills of Kisatchie National Forest, Louisiana's only National Forest. There's even one little spot where you can have a stunning view right from your car! Let's check it out.
The Kisatchie National Forest is over 600,000 acres of some of the most beautiful natural scenery Louisiana has to offer.
Located within the forest is the 17-mile Longleaf Scenic Byway, an absolute must if you’re driving through this beautiful area.
Nestled within the rugged landscape of the forest along byway, the Longleaf Vista Recreation Area is a perfect destination for anyone wanting some beautiful scenery, but without the strenuous hike.
There's plenty of spots to check out the view, and you can pull right up to the site.
There are several benches and tables peppered around the area so you can bring your own lunch and enjoy a delightful picnic with a scenic view.
And the view? Incredible.
It's not often that we get treetop views, and this is one of the most beautiful views in Louisiana.
You might even be inspired to wander down the nearby trails.
It's one of the most rugged landscapes in Louisiana, a far departure from the swamps and bayou views we're used to.
It's certainly worth a road trip from any corner of the state!
