Iowa has some pretty amazing "world’s largest" attractions, from a giant strawberry or ball of popcorn, to Albert the Bull, in Audubon. One of the most interesting and fun "world’s largest" attractions that Iowa has is the Iowa 80 Truckstop, the world’s largest truck stop.
Located off I-80 next to Walcott, Iowa, this amazing truck stop has been likened to a small city or a trucker’s Disneyland, so you know it’s definitely worth a stop, whether you’re a trucker or not.
The stop was established in 1964, and it includes a staggering number of businesses and services.
There are eight restaurants, a convenience store, a gift store, a Super Truck Showroom, a barber shop, a chiropractor, a dentist, a library, a movie theater, a workout room, laundry facilities, gas islands, a diesel fuel center, a truck service center, a Truckomat truck wash, a Dogomat pet wash, a CAT Scale, 24- private showers, a trucking museum and more, if you can believe it.
While you may not have time to visit everything at this massive truck stop, you’ll definitely want to pay a visit to the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum.
The museum features antique trucks and trucking memorabilia, where you can learn more about the history of trucking and see some rare and one-of-a-kind trucks.
The truck stop hosts an annual Truckers Jamboree, celebrating America’s truckers with exhibits, food, an antique truck display, fireworks, carnival games and more.
In 2017, the jamboree will run July 13th through the 15th.
The stop is full of dining options, but if you want a delicious home cooked meal, go to the Iowa 80 Kitchen.
They’re open 24/7, 365 days a year, and they serve a wide variety of stick-to-your-ribs classics, like amazing breakfasts, burgers, steaks, pork chops, fried chicken and much more.
No visit to the Iowa 80 Truck Stop is complete without a stop at the gift store.
This amazing store is packed with a wide variety of gifts to commemorate your stop or just to grab something to take with you wherever you’re headed.
