Pella's Tulip Time festival may be canceled this year, but Pella's tulip tenders are encouraging everyone to visit virtually! Mark your calendars and catch the following live streams to get your daily dose of Pella's tulips.
On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, tune in at 9 a.m. for Coffee Time with Tulips. Pella Parks Manager Chandler Nunnikhoven goes live to chat about the types of tulips in bloom and takes you on a walk to see them up close. Tuesdays showcase the tulips in bloom at the Village Gardens and Scholte House! Jessi Vos from the Pella Historical Society hosts these updates on Facebook and Instagram. On Thursday, Jill Vandervoort (director of VisitPella) showcases her favorite tulips of the week. She'll keep you updated on what's going on in Iowa's most beautiful and colorful town.
For now, take a look at what's in bloom below, and enjoy a virtual tour of Pella to see this remarkable and resilient town.
Right now, Tulip Avenue in Central Park is alive with the colors of Clear White, Concador, Cummins, Daydream, and Dordogne tulips. The Orange El Nino flowers are still in bud and will be blooming soon.
The Scholte House gardens are beautiful, as always! You can catch a tour of these on Tulip Tuesdays.
One of my favorite tulips, year after year, are the unique 'Blueberry Ripple' blooms.
Bright yellow Big Smile tulips certainly add some color to the landmark sundial!
This cute photo of pretty Jackpot Tulips was taken near the crabapple tree — look what landed in the bud!
Of course, if you just can't get through Tulip Time without an in-person dose of Pella, you'll be pleased to know their virtual gift shop is open for online ordering.
If you miss the live streams, they'll be preserved on each Facebook page, so you can tune in when you have the time.
Keep an eye on the social media accounts mentioned above to get your fill of Tulip Time even if you're enjoying the festival from the safety of your home. We're so thankful for the chance to enjoy a virtual tour of Pella!
