Fall in Georgia is a beautiful time. The beautiful rainbow of changing leaves, the dropping temperatures, cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice everything, nights spent by the fire... it's all quite amazing. But for many, it's a mere prequel to winter. The Farmers' Almanac just released their winter weather forecast for the entire country for 2022-2023, and it may surprise you with what's in store. This summer was brutal, with humidity and heat a major hindrance for anyone in the south, but you might find yourself longing for those days in just a few months! Do you find reprieve in thinking about winter in Georgia so early? Or does it chill you to the bone to think about what will be coming in the next few months? Take a look at the Farmers' Almanac winter forecast for Georgia: it's expected to be a year of "Shake! Shiver! Shovel!"
As much as the Peach State can be quite beautiful during the winter months, the frosty, icy, and unpredictable weather can also make life a lot less enjoyable.
According to the Farmers' Almanac, winter 2022-2023 in Georgia will be "shivery, wet, and slushy."
It's expected to be colder than usual in the Southeast, including Georgia. However, we're not likely to see temperatures as cold as they will in the north-central states. Temperatures near the Great Lakes are expected to be as low as -40 degrees!
The Farmers' Almanac winter forecast for Georgia calls for a mixed bag of precipitation, with icy mixes of sleet and snow expected. Don't pack away your umbrellas, and keep them handy right next to your snow shovels.
If you're not familiar with how the Farmers' Almanac works, the predictions are based on complex mathematical and astronomical formulas.
The formulas are top-secret, and use various factors, such as the moon, tidal action, sunspot activity, and even planetary movement. The formula predicts how seasons will likely play out for different regions of the country.
While a chillier-than-usual, and possibly wet, winter in Georgia is expected, at least we can be glad that we aren't out in the frigid Midwest!
Keep in mind that March predictions may bring late winter storms, so you'll want to keep your winter clothing available at least until April. March can sometimes go out like a lion!
While this all sounds pretty average for Georgia - flip-floppy weather with some polar chills, there may still be hope for a few warm days throughout.
So, what do you think about the Farmers' Almanac winter weather forecast for Georgia? Are you a believer, or do you take it all with a grain of salt? And are you excited at the prospects of a frigid winter, or are you a snowbird hoping for warmth? Share your thoughts in the comments!
