Summer excursions have begun for the Arkansas & Missouri Railroad, so all aboard! The seating is limited but the tickets and views are worth it! The A&M offers three main tours: Van Buren to Winslow, Springdale to Winslow and Springdale to Van Buren. Both offer gorgeous views of Arkansas' Ozark National Forest so let's pick a tour and enjoy the ride.
A ride on the A&M should be on everyone's bucket list. Despite the pandemic, the tour can still be crossed off your list!
The Arkansas & Missouri Railroad has implemented new social distancing guidelines and other sanitation measures to make sure that every passenger is safe.
The three tours offer different perspectives of Arkansas' stunning forest but all of them are worthwhile.
Each tour is about three hours long round trip from either Springdale to Winslow, Springdale to Van Buren, or Van Buren to Winslow.
In addition to rich history of the rail cars and beautiful scenery, riders can enjoy the unique features of each tour.
Depending on which tour you choose you could chug through the ¼-mile long Winslow Tunnel or ride above the trees along 125-ft. high trestles.
The new guidelines ensure that every Arkansan is riding the rails safely.
The A&M is following all local, state and CDC health guidelines to keep everyone as healthy as possible. Passengers must wear a facial covering and stay distant from other groups. This has created limited seating so it's vital to get your tickets in advance.
Other cleaning measures are being taken as well!
All crew members are taking extra sanitation measures including wiping down surfaces and railing as well as using UV lighting.
The summer season excursions began at the end of June and have weekday or weekend options.
The normal tours are on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with special events sprinkled in throughout the year.
Board your A&M train to ride through the Boston Mountains and Ozark Forests for an unforgettable adventure.
The train schedule for July-September is available to book now through their website. You can also follow the A&M Railroad Facebook Page for updates as well.
Will you be taking a summer excursion this season or waiting for fall? We'd love to hear about your past train rides around the state in the comments below!
If you'd like to stay even more socially distant, then take one of these backroad drives instead!
