Wazee Lake is most known for being Wisconsin’s deepest lake. However, that’s not its only claim to fame. There’s also the fact that it boasts some of the cleanest, clearest water in the state. In fact, the water’s clarity has led to the lake becoming one of the most popular scuba diving sites in the Midwest. As if it couldn't get any better, it's surrounded by a white sand beach, making it the perfect spot for some fun in the sun (and water). Take a look:

Our very own slice of paradise, otherwise known as Wazee Lake, is located about 125 miles northwest of Madison.
Dubbed the Midwest's finest scuba diving experience, the lake is the highlight of Wazee Lake Recreation Area.
Not naturally occurring, the 146-acre lake formed after an abandoned quarry began filling with water.
Taking the title of the state’s deepest lake, it has a depth of nearly 400’.
Of course, its depth is only part of its allure. The pristine water is definitely another.
Seriously, you can see straight through it!
In 1996, a white sand beach was added to the lake, making it even easier to enjoy its crystal clear waters.
Being clean and pristine isn't all the lake has going for it, though.
Because of its depth, the lake's water stays refreshingly cool.
And since the lake is in a recreation area, it's surrounded by amenities, including hiking trails, a bike path, picnic areas, fishing pier, campsites, and more.
Admission into Wazee Lake Recreation Area is $3 per vehicle between Memorial Day and Labor Day. There are no entry fees for the rest of the year. Dive fees, which are $10/day or $75/calendar year, are charged year-round. For more information, check out the Jackson County website.
