With the holidays just around the corner, you may be wondering where in Washington to celebrate this season. There’s Christmas spirit everywhere, and all kinds of magical events you definitely won’t want to miss. Here are 10 of the many festive towns in our state you’ve got to visit this month:
10. Anacortes
This small town on Fidalgo Island looks absolutely beautiful this time of year! They'll be holding their annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony this Friday on December 4. After the lighting, there will be free pictures with Santa for the little ones and delicious hot cocoa to warm you up.
9. Chehalis
You can catch the Polar Express or Santa Steam Train from this town just south of Olympia for a magical Christmas journey! There will also be more celebrations at the town's 66th Annual Santa Parade, coming up on Saturday, December 5.
8. Lynden
While this small town in Whatcom County is delightful year-round, it's especially magical during the Christmas season. On Saturday December 5, they'll be hosting their spectacular 25th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade featuring a bright display of lighted trucks, cars, floats, wagons, farm equipment, and beautifully lighted storefronts.
7. Yakima
While some people may not think of Yakima as a very festive place at first, there's actually a remarkable amount of events going on around town this season! They'll be hosting a Holiday Open House at the local museum this Saturday, December 5, a spectacular parade downtown on December 6, as well as a Santa Claus Trolley on the following two weekends before the big holiday.
6. Bothell
Bothell is home to a Country Village center that features a wonderful animated light display this season! On Saturday, December 5, families can also celebrate Santa's arrival with traditional tree lighting, caroling and hot roasted chestnuts.
5. Puyallup
Here at the Washington State Fairgrounds you can experience a lovely Victorian Country Christmas from December 2-6, where there will be lots of music and gourmet food & wine to dine on. They also have two giant theaters and countless shows to check out.
4. Tacoma
Nearby, there's more festive spirit in Tacoma! Zoolights is a popular family tradition held at Point Defiance Zoo where you can view some of the most stunning lights this season. This holiday event has already started, running from November 27 - January 3.
3. Shelton
Not only is this Mason County town also known as "Christmas Town USA", but it's the Christmas tree capital of the entire nation with several farms where you can find your own Evergreen tree to decorate. The community also has a fantastic parade going on this Saturday, December 5.

2. Stanwood
More than a million Christmas lights will twinkle across 15 acres at Warm Beach Camp this year! The Lights of Christmas Festival is the largest holiday light display in the Pacific Northwest, starting on Thursday, December 3.

This Bavarian village is not only the most popular Christmas town in our state, but it's one of the most festive in the whole country! While you're in the area for their Festival of Lights this December (which kicks off this Friday the 4th), be sure to stop and check out Kris Kringl, Washington's premiere Christmas store, where you can knock out all of your holiday shopping.
