For one enchanting weekend in May, Roanoke will transform into the world of Harry Potter. Wizards, witches, and any fans of the beloved book will want to sign up for this one-of-a-kind event. Here's more on the Roanoke's fantastic Harry Potter Weekend and what to expect:
On May 13th, the scenic town of Roanoke will undergo a magical transformation.
A first annual Harry Potter Fest is in the works, and the Ministry of Magic is diligently planning this unforgettable event.
The local community event planning group is appropriately named the Roanoke Ministry of Magic. Working with local vendors, restaurants, and other community groups, these hard-working individuals are responsible for bringing the Harry Potter vision to life.
So what should you expect from this Hogwarts-themed weekend?
To begin with, the streets of Roanoke will be closed to traffic as eager witches, wizards, and even muggles arrive to town.
There will also be a demonstration of the beloved Quidditch game put on by local athletic teams.
Photographed above, the Community High School is the first high school team officially recognized by the U.S. Quidditch Association.
Word on the street is that local beer vendors will even be serving a specialty non-alcoholic butterbeer for visitors of all ages to try.
Look for a Harry Potter themed beer-garden, complete with festive drinks of all kinds.
You'll even be able to sample these tasty butterbeer cupcakes.
Dinner will be served in the Great Hall, a festive banquet fit for the entire wizarding community.
In anticipation of this incredible event, the Roanoke City Market Building has been screening the Harry Potter movie series, complete with concessions.
Thousands of Harry Potter fans have already expressed interest in the event, so be sure to get your tickets soon!
