We all have our favorite local eats. With so many incredible options in Virginia, it's definitely quite a task to narrow it all down to 10. However, with the internet as a handy resource, we're able to research the highest-rated restaurants in our state. And it came down to these ten:
1. The Inn at Little Washington
Fine dining just doesn't go out of style, especially coming from a five star and double five diamond award winning restaurant/hotel.
Pan seared sea bass with candied yams and coconut. Wow.
This almond cake looks almost too beautiful to eat. Almost...
2. Heritage (Richmond)
Heritage is the place to go for fantastic new-American cuisine paired with impressive craft cocktails.
Heritage puts an elegant spin on classic southern comfort food dishes.
You just can't beat the classic fried green tomato.
3. Trummer's on Main (Clifton)
Trummer's has the state's most comprehensive wine program. The restaurant embraces its small town charm but the food seems like something you'd expect from a big city with its presentation and the attention to detail.
This pork tenderloin dish is an example of the fine presentation.
And these breakfast biscuit sliders will take things to a new level.
4. The Alley Light (Charlottesville)
One of the neatest things about the Alley Light is you won't find it unless you're looking for it. In a nondescript alley location on the Charlottesville Downtown Mall is a hidden treasure well worth the hunt. The intense French flavor will remind you that good things truly come in small bites.
This salmon tartare dish is a work of art.
The seafood board look scrumptious.
5. Foode (Fredericksburg)
Pronounced "foodie," this is a place that'll definitely turn you into one. It's a casual scene here where you order from the counter before choosing your seat. Prepare to be amazed.
Corn-crusted and cast iron fried catfish never looked better.
Look at all those colors in their radish salad.
6. 2941 Restaurant (Falls Church)
In addition to what's on the menu, you'll remember the gorgeous scenery that surrounds 2941 Restaurant: koi ponds, waterfalls, artwork, and a lakeside view.
You've gotta love any place that celebrates Pi Day.
2941 has an 8-course vegetarian tasting menu for their "Meatless Monday" nights.
7. Eat - An American Bistro (Virginia Beach)
The restaurant's name and decor remind you exactly what you're there for.
One of the most beautiful scallop presentations you'll ever see.
Cheeseburger and sweet potato fries...doesn't get much better than that.
8. Circa 1918 Kitchen & Bar (Newport News)
This is one of the more romantic spots on the list. These small bites are full of new-American flavor.
This low country boil isn't messing around.
And neither is this lobster mac and cheese dish.
9. Local Roots Restaurant (Roanoke)
Local Roots is farm to table in the truest sense. These fabulous dishes support nearby farms and will please your appetite.
