There are quite a few castles hiding in Maryland, a few of which we've previously written about here. But there is only one castle in the Old Line State where you can rest your head for the night. That's right, at the Castle B&B in Mount Savage, you can spend a weekend dining on gourmet food and walking around the grounds of this charming castle. Everyone should experience this enchanting place at least once, and here's why...
What was once a normal-looking stone house in the 1840s was later purchased by a successful entrepreneur. He decided to turn the house into a castle and modeled it after Craig Castle in Scotland. He continued to live in the grand structure until the Great Depression.
The castle was later owned by several families, and at points throughout its history it was a dance hall, apartments, and even a brothel.
In the 1980s, it was restored and turned into a bed and breakfast.
This darling b&b has several rooms to choose from, all complete with vintage wallpaper and artwork.
You can't have bed without breakfast (and lunch and dinner)! The gourmet meals you'll be served here will make you feel like royalty.
Seriously, come with an appetite.
Between meals, explore the the unique castle. If you're a lover of antiques, this place is like a dream.
Then head outside and explore the grounds. This would be the picture-perfect spot to stroll hand in hand.
Or have a peek at the gardens. You're sure to find lovely little surprises throughout the property.
Be sure to sit on the patio each evening for a sip of tea. It doesn't get any better, or more romantic than this place.
