Ah, the donut – one of America’s favorite treats. Joyous were the days our parents used to bring home donuts on a Saturday morning, accompanied by cartoons, of course. And even more magnificent are the days where office meetings are made more bearable due to that one co-worker who always brings donuts in. In honor of the donut, here are some of our top must-visit donut shops in Hawaii serving everything from malasadas to green tea donuts.
1. Leonard's Bakery
Leonard’s Bakery is famous for their malasadas, or Portuguese donuts, which were introduced to Hawaii by Leonard himself, after opening shop in the 1950s.
2. Kamehameha Bakery
Craving something sweet, but it's hours before sunrise? No worries — Kamehameha Bakery opens at 2 a.m.
Step inside and breathe in the aromas of fresh-baked pastries. There's nothing like the smell of warm donuts and sugar to start your morning off right! Known for their magnificent glazed poi donuts, Kamehameha Bakery is a true Hawaiian treasure.
3. Mr. Donut's & Bakery
Though Mr. Donut doesn’t look like much – sitting unassuming in downtown Honolulu – they BAKE their donuts rather than frying them, making for a delicious experience unlike many others. Best donuts in Hawaii? You be the judge!
4. Napoleon's Bakery

If You Only Have One Day to Visit This Small Town in Massachusetts, Here’s Everything You Absolutely Can’t Miss
If You Only Have One Day to Visit This Small Town in Maryland, Here’s Everything You Absolutely Can’t Miss
We’d be amiss to write a list without mentioning Napoleon’s Bakery, attached to many Zippy’s locations. My husband has an unnatural love for their mochi rice cake with sweet red bean paste… Not my thing, but he loves it.
5. Komoda Store and Bakery
First opened as a general store in 1916, this Maui shop began to sell baked goods in the ‘40s, and are now famous for their cream puffs, long johns and glazed donut sticks. Today, Komoda Store and Bakery is a beloved town institution!
